PUBLIC AFFAIRS
The Public Affairs Committee held their first meeting this month and discussed the previous year’s programs, as well as events or projects that we might like to accomplish
in the future. We are going to continue working with the Lumpkin County Veteran’s Affairs Committee, aiding them with the Memorial Day and Veteran’s Day celebrations.
We also plan to work closely with NOA and help them whenever we can, especially at Christmas when we plan to continue our adopt a family tradition. We are also
making pillowcases for each of the mother’s and their children at the facility. They receive a new pillow when they arrive, so we thought a fun pillowcase to go with it might brighten some spirits. If we can make enough, we can offer pillowcases to Rainbow House and also the Assisted Living Facility. If you would like to aid us with this project we can certainly use your help and would be happy to show everyone how to make these clever and easy to
make creations.

If we have several positions open for election later this year, we are investigating the possibility of holding a candidate’s forum in conjunction with the Chamber. Pat Wozny will be checking with the elections board about the positions that will be on the ballot and we will make a decision as to the need of such an event.

We are also hoping to hold a CPR training class for our interested members, as the procedures for helping a heart attack victim have changed and we are certain that many of us need to update this important training. All additional program ideas are certainly welcome.

Thank you. Brita Borden 867-9054
